PetroWind supports technologyenabled learning

PETROWIND Energy Inc. (PWEI) turned-over 47 tablets for students of Pawa Primary School (PPS) in Barangay Pawa, Nabas town, Aklan. The donation was part of PWEI’s Basic Education Support through Technology (BEST) project under its corporate social responsibility campaign We Power HELP (Health, Education and Livelihood Program). BEST promoted the use of technology in primary education, particularly in teaching basic literacy.

“Our objective is for the students of PPS to improve their reading and writing skills with the help of digital tools. The tablets were installed with teacher-approved online and offline learning applications, which teachers can utilize to improve the students’ reading comprehension, writing skills and even understand basic math concepts,” said Yrel Ventura, PetroWind’s senior manager for Environment and Community Relations.

The Lenovo M7 tablets were ideal for educational activities with its high-definition screen, Quad-core processor, good battery performance, and seamless integration to mobile devices and computers.

Nabas Mayor Maria Fe Lasaleta graced the turnover ceremony and expressed her deep gratitude to PWEI for its support to PPS.

“The Pawa Primary School pupils are very lucky because PWEI invests in and supports their education. Instead of walking for 3 kilometers to a nearby school, now they have access to good primary education, including modern learning tools right here in Pawa.,” Lasaleta said.

Nabas Public Schools District Supervisor Idy Pedrata also thanked PWEI for spearheading the project and expressed the hope that other schools in the district could also benefit from PWEI’s support. Parents of the beneficiaries and the teaching staff of PPS were also present during the event.
