KG Mobility launches in the Philippines; introduces 5 vehicles in initial offering

SOUTH Korean auto brand KG Mobility has officially entered the Philippine market under the distributorship of The Covenant Car Company Inc. (TCCCI), The establishment of KG Mobility Philippines (KGM PH) was formalized in the third quarter of this year,
Jose Cuisia Jr., chairman of the board of TCCCI, emphasized that the establishment of KGM PH reflects the enduring partnership between the Philippines and South Korea. He expressed optimism that the local market will positively respond to the new brand’s product offerings.
Backed by 70 years of expertise in SUV manufacturing and production, KG Mobility has been a prominent Korean SUV manufacturer and a key player in the Korean automotive industry since 1954. It was formerly known as Ssangyong.
The company exports its SUVs to 126 countries globally, with the Philippines being its newest destination.
“Products from Korea, including automobiles, are recognized around the world for their outstanding build quality, aesthetic refinement, and for being curated with expert oversight — merits which we are sure will endear Filipinos towards KG Mobility Philippines’ appealing lineup of vehicles,” Cuisia said.
Ki Young Hwang, executive managing director of KG Mobility Korea, anticipates growth and development of KGM PH, assuring Filipino consumers of a captivating lineup of new-generation KG Mobility SUVs and pickup trucks, along with relisions) able, customer-oriented after-sales and technical support.
For its initial offering, KGM PH will target three of the five largest segments in the local automotive industry. The lineup includes five new KG Mobility products, each with unique selling points, available even before the public launch scheduled for the first quarter of 2024.
Presented at the media launch were the Tivoli crossover SUV, the Tivoli Grand crossover SUV and the Torres compact SUV. The Rexton midsize SUV and the Musso Grand Pickup will be available by the end of the year.
The Tivoli comes with either a manual or automatic transmission and is offered in four variants, starting at P898,999. The Tivoli Grand crossover SUV is offered in two trims (both with Aisin 6-speed automatic transmission) with pricing that starts at P1.188 million. Both are powered by a 1.6-liter petrol engine that produces 128 PS and 160 Nm of torque.
The Torres compact SUV is powered by a 1.5-liter GDI turbocharged engine and is available in either front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive. Pricing starts at P1.868 million. The Rexton midsize SUV will be available in 4x2 and 4x4, with pricing starting at P2.248 million. The Musso Grand Pickup will be available in 4x2 (with manual and automatic transmisand the sole 4x4 variant comes with automatic transmission. Five variants are available, with prices starting at P1.198 million. Both the Rexton and Musso Grand Pickup are powered by a 2.2-liter diesel engine.
As part of KGM PH’s opening strategy, a national dealer network will be established to provide sales and after-sales support to clients in the country. Vehicles will be available for retail and service at select KGM PH dealers starting at the fourth quarter of 2023, leading up to the official brand launch in the first quarter of 2024. The company aims to have 12 operational dealerships by the end of 2024.
TCCCI, celebrating its 70th year, ensures that new KGM PH clients will have easy access to KG Mobility Solutions after-sales support via a network of accredited and authorized service outlets. KG Mobility Solutions offers customers necessary support, including swift one-hour service for periodic vehicle maintenance or home vehicle servicing packages for more specialized after-sales cases. Each KGM vehicle comes with a 5-year/100,000-kilometer vehicle warranty and 24/7 emergency roadside assistance via KG Mobility Philippines’ customer support hotline.
Expect to see the KG Mobility Philippines roadshow in leading business and lifestyle hubs in Metro Manila for the remainder of this year, expanding to more areas in 2024.
