TOYOTA Motor Philippines has expanded the lineup of the nation’s leading pickup truck with the introduction of the new Hilux GR Sport (GR-S).

Drawing inspiration from the Dakarwinning GR Hilux, the New Hilux GR-S boasts a rugged design characterized by a wide-tread body, matte black GR-S overfenders, 17-inch alloy GR design wheels equipped with All-Terrain Tires, and the GR Aero sports bar.

In terms of dimensions, the new Hilux GR-S is 120 mm wider and 65 mm taller than its predecessor, giving it a more robust and commanding exterior and appearance. These enhancements underscore its improved generational qualities of quality, durability and reliability.

The visual upgrades begin with a distinctive blacked-out front grille featuring “TOYOTA” lettering, complemented by an aerodynamically enhanced wide-track front bumper with a silver lower molding. The new overfenders are designed to accommodate the widened wheel track, while black badging, door handles, and exterior mirrors add to the GR Sport’s dynamic aesthetics.

Beyond its visual appeal, the performance improvements are notable. The venerable 2.8-liter diesel, 4-cylinder, 16-valve DOHC (dual overhead camshaft) variable nozzle turbocharged engine, equipped with an air-cooled intercooler, delivers a 10 percent increase in power and torque, resulting in an impressive maximum output of 224 PS and 550 Nm of torque. The six-speed automatic transmission has been recalibrated to optimize the GR Sport’s enhanced engine performance.

The New Hilux GR-S also features fourwheel ventilated disc brakes, painted in an eye-catching red finish with GR logos to highlight its performance-oriented nature. The suspension benefits from special monotube shock absorbers tuned specifically for the vehicle, and the rear stabilizer bar has been removed to provide increased suspension travel.

Inside the cabin, the New Hilux GR-S is adorned with GR-S suede and leather seats. A GR-S emblem embellishes the leather steering wheel, while leather door trims with technical mesh and red seat belts contribute to the sporty interior aesthetics. New amenities include a 9-inch Display Audio system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, as well as a wireless charger, adding excitement to every adventure in the New Hilux GR-S. Convenient features such as smart entry and a push start system enhance the overall driving experience.

Safety is a priority, with the addition of a blind spot monitor and rear cross traffic alert (RCTA). The New Hilux GR-S is also equipped with Toyota Safety Sense and other safety features, including a panoramic view monitor, anti-lock braking system, vehicle stability control, hill-start assist control, and downhill assist control.

The New Hilux GR-S is available in colors such as Emotional Red, Super White 2, and Attitude Black Mica 2-tone for P2.186 million as well as Attitude Black Mica for P2.166 million.
