PH’s Legit Status wows World Hip Hop Championship
THE stage was set, the energy electrifying, and the Philippines’ Legit Status Dance Crew, whose members include the talented Alexis Nickole Enciso, seized victory as they shot to the top of the winning acts at the World Hip Hop Dance Champions Dance Championship 2023 in Phoenix, Arizona.
In a fierce showdown held on August 6, Legit Status soared above 54 formidable dance groups to secure their supremacy in the MegaCrew Division, leaving the competition awestruck by their innovative dance techniques and dynamic performance.
Alexis’ parents, Alvin and Astrid Enciso, beaming with pride, celebrated their daughter’s remarkable achievement, declaring her and comembers beacons of national pride.
“Congratulations to Legit Status and our Alexis. You make our country proud! Alexis, as you pursue your dreams and passions, we stand with you every step of the way. Our little girl has grown into a star, and we can’t wait to witness the heights you’ll conquer,” said an elated Alvin.
Currently pursuing Industrial Engineering at De La Salle University in Manila, Alexis demonstrated that dedication knows no bounds, excelling academically and as a champion on the international stage.
During the finals, Legit Status captivated the audience with a high-powered four-minute performance, showcasing an electrifying fusion of dance styles that left the crowd in awe.
Their standout performance secured them the top spot in the preliminary round, achieving an impressive score of 7.98, with a notable 0.32 gap score separating them from their closest contenders.
As the competition intensified in the semifinal round, Legit Status maintained their prowess with a score of 7.86, with the gap narrowing to a mere 0.15 between them and the pursuing dance troupe. Their dedication and flair for dance continued to shine, solidifying their position as frontrunners.
A moment of immense pride arose as Legit Status, representing the Philippines, took the stage to sing the country’s National Anthem.
The dance crew stood as a symbol of national identity and artistic excellence, leaving a lasting impression on the worldwide audience.
Notably, it was a triumphant day for Philippine dance, as two other exceptional groups achieved recognition. The UP Streetdance Club secured a remarkable third place in the fiercely competitive MegaCrew Division. At the same time, HQ emerged victorious in the challenging Adult Division, showcasing the Philippines’ formidable talent on the global stage.
