PBA approves Bolick trade

RICHARD DY

THE first blockbuster trade for the PBA Season 48 centered around high-scoring guard Robert Bolick has been approved by the league’s Commissioner’s Office on Monday.

What was originally a trade involving NorthPort and NLEX, now involved San Miguel Beer as well.

Under the approved deal, Bolick and Kent Salado are shipped by NorthPort to NLEX in exchange for Don Trollano, veteran guard Kris Rosales and young big man Ben Adamos, along with the Road Warriors’ Season 49 second round draft pick.

Bolick easily plugs the hole left by veteran star Kevin Alas, who is out for the remainder of the young season due to a torn ACL (anterior cruciate ligament).

The 28-year-old Bolick is coming off an All-Star season in the PBA this past year where he averaged career-high in points of 20.4 in 29 games, along with 6.1 assists and 5.0 rebounds in over 38 minutes of action.

For the 31-year-old Trollano, the Batang Pier merely serves as a pitstop since the former Adamson Falcon is dealt to the injurydepleted San Miguel Beermen in exchange for Allyn Bulanadi, Jeepy Faundo and the Beermen’s Season 51 second round pick.

Trollano, now in his seventh season as a pro, brings in the much-needed firepower for the Beermen, who are missing the services of injured stars June Mar Fajardo (fractured left wrist), Terrence Romeo (bone contusion) and Jeron Teng (hamstring).

San Miguel dropped to sixth spot in the standings after dropping a narrow 94-90 decision to leagueleader Magnolia on Sunday.

The Beermen are currently carrying an even 3-3 record.
