Actor Wilbert Ross takes new strides in music

VERSATILE actor and singersongwriter, Wilbert Ross, is taking a significant step in his music career with the release of his first-ever EP titled “Lampara.”

Released just over a week ago, this six-song EP marks a significant step in his music career. Ross has also been nominated in the Best Male Performance category for the upcoming 36th AWIT Award, underscoring his dedication to music.

While some music acts opt for a compilation of their prior singles as an EP, Wilbert Ross takes a fresh approach with “Lampara” — it boasts four entirely new, original tracks written by Ross himself. The lead track, “Handa Ako,” is a sentimental acoustic ballad that features singer Mika Salamanca.

The EP also includes “Byahe Ng Buhay,” a lyrical journey through life’s ups and downs; “Dramatic Actor,” a combination of melodious vocals with a touch of drama; and “Benteng Ukit” is a captivating song that lingers in your heart.

For devoted fans, “Lampara” includes two beloved tracks, “Nakangiti” and “Andito Lang Ako.”

Wilbert Ross’ venture into music is no one-shot deal aimed at propagating his name for fame’s sake. At the start, Ross said to his label, Viva Records, that he wants to establish himself as a musician in his own right.

“I’m not doing this because I want to be known as an actor who can sing. I’m in this because this music is inside me. I’m saying this just so you know that I’m in this for the long haul.”

His consistency in releasing singles and successful collaborations, such as “Langga,” with Zeinab Harake, which has garnered millions of views and streams, proves his dedication to music.

Not bad for an actor who happen to seriously sing and write on the side.

That’s why getting nomination for an AWIT Award in the Best Male Performance category is an acknowledgment of his musical efforts.

The nod isn’t lost to Wilbert, who said, “It’s feels good getting noticed this way. It means I’m doing something right.”

Wilbert Ross, known for his work in films like “Working Boys 2” and “Boy Bastos,” has already released over a dozen singles and is poised for greater success in music.

Singer/songwriter and multiinstrumentalist Armi Millare, one of the Philippines’ most prolific and celebrated music icons of the 21st century, is back.

She recently dropped her debut single, “Roots,”on all digital music platforms.

Oozing with Millare’s trademark penchant for chilled-out rhythms, pensive lyricism and deft melodic craftsmanship, “Roots” seemingly shies-away from the grandiose and finds her returning, exploring and embracing the present unknown; in short, she is finally back in her artistic element.

With the release of “Roots,” fans will be pleased to know that a record is in the works, and that Armi is ready to return to the stages as well – this time around, with a more conscious and calculated approach, for both audiences and her own self.
