LA TRINIDAD, Benguet: The clean and renewable energy (Cleanergy) of Hedcor has been recognized by the Department of Energy (DoE) as a compliant retail competition and open access (RCOA) participant. Eighteen Hedcor Cleanergy facilities have received the award after being compliant with DoE’s RCOA requirements for the fiscal year 2021. Up north in Luzon, the following hydro facilities are FLS, Labay, Lon-oy, Ampohaw, Bineng 3, Irisan 3 and Sal-angan. Down south in Mindanao, the Manolo Fortich Hydros, Talomo Hydros, Sibulan Hydros and Tudaya Hydros also garnered said recognition. “Hedcor is committed to providing the country with a reliable, sustainable and reasonably-priced supply of renewable energy,” says Leo Lungay, Hedcor vice president for Operations and Maintenance. “To accomplish this, we are upscaling our operations and processes to ensure dependable power for our customers, and in support of DoE’s open access.”The Electric Power Industry Reform Act of 2001 established RCOA as a way to offer customers more choices in their electricity supply. Hedcor is known for championing renewable power sources, making it the Philippines’ largest operator for run-of-river hydropower plants.
